New York Living Rooms by Dominique Nabokov

Sale price¥7,150

This is a collection of works by photographer Dominique Nabokov, who is based in the United States and France. This work was the first in the artist's trilogy "Living Rooms," first published in 1998 by the American publisher ABRAMS. After more than 20 years, it has now been reprinted by APARTAMENTO. This series, which was originally published as a photo essay in the New Yorker magazine in 1995, depicts the living rooms of legendary New Yorkers, including writer Susan Sontag, novelist Norman Mailer, artists Louise Bourgeois and Francesco Clemente, poet Allen Ginsberg, and novelist and essayist Joan Didion, in an intimate yet candid manner. Some rooms are lavish and extravagant, while others are furnished with only the bare necessities.
The artist simply recorded everything as it was and left it to us to interpret. This long-out-of-print book, featuring the artist's original Polaroid photographs and a foreword by British poet James Fenton that also appeared in the first edition, vividly brings to life an era in New York.
